Technical Aspects of 1.5 Tesla Magnetic Resonance

1. Technical Description of the Magnetic Resonance Equipment 1.5 Tesla

The systemsMagnetic Resonance of 1.5 Teslas are made up of several key components:

  • Main Magnet:The magnet creates a stable and homogeneous magnetic field. In 1.5 Tesla systems, this magnet generates a magnetic field of 1.5 Tesla, which is approximately 30,000 times stronger than the Earth's magnetic field.

  • Gradient Coils:Located inside the main magnet, these coils generate additional magnetic fields that vary in space and time, allowing the Magnetic Resonance signal to be precisely located.

  • RF (Radio Frequency) Coils:These coils emit and receive radio waves, disturbing and detecting changes in the orientation of protons.

  • Data Processing System:This system converts received signals into detailed images.

2. Image Parameters and Configuration
Image parameters in 1.5 Tesla MRI include:

  • Repetition Time (TR) and Echo Time (TE):They determine how much time to wait between RF pulses and how much time to wait for signal detection. These affect the contrast of the image.

  • Voxel Density:Defines the spatial resolution of the image. Smaller voxels provide more detailed images.

  • Pulse Sequences:Like T1, T2, FLAIR, etc., each provides different types of contrast and diagnostic information.

3. Specific Advantages and Limitations of Rsonance 1.5 Tesla Magnetic

Advantages:

  • Balanced Image Quality:It offers a good relationship between image quality, acquisition time and patient comfort.

  • Versatility:Suitable for a wide range of clinical applications, from brain to musculoskeletal studies.

  • Lower Sensitivity to Artifacts:Compared to higher Tesla systems, there is less susceptibility to motion artifacts and distortions.

Limitations:

  • Lower Resolution than Higher Tesla Systems:For high resolution studies, such as certain brain studies, 3T systems may be preferred.

  • Sensitivity to Artifacts in Metallic Implants:Although less than in higher Tesla systems, it is still a consideration in patients with certain types of implants.
